About 3DAF Inc

Since 2004, 3D Additive Fabrication Incorporated has helped ideas move from concept to customer-facing reality. What began in Kingston, Canada, serving the historic and niche downtown core, quickly became a hands-on partnership with some of the region’s most recognizable brands.

In the early years, our focus was visual merchandising—custom in-store layouts, sculpted environments, and window displays designed to stop foot traffic in its tracks. These experiences did more than look good. They drove engagement, strengthened brand recognition, and translated directly into increased sales.

History - The Early Years

As our clients scaled their ambitions and the market continued to shift, our organization evolved with purpose. Each year brought deliberate investments in new manufacturing technologies, expanded tooling, and refined workflows—all aimed at supporting ideas that were becoming more complex, more customized, and more demanding.

This progression was not incremental by accident. It was driven by real-world challenges presented by our partners, pushing us to bridge the gap between creative vision and industrial execution. Prototyping led to short runs. Short runs matured into full production. Capabilities once considered specialized became integrated, reliable, and repeatable.

Over time, this steady evolution transformed what began as a local design studio into a full-spectrum fabrication partner—one built to adapt quickly, scale intelligently, and deliver consistently across a constantly changing industrial and creative landscape. As these capabilities matured, our reach expanded beyond local and regional markets, supporting projects across North America and steadily growing into an international presence.

The 2010's

Between 2010 and 2019, the company entered a period of sustained and intentional growth, driven by strategic investment in both people and production. Talent development became a core priority, alongside the expansion of manufacturing resources that allowed us to support a broader range of technical and creative challenges.

During this decade, we introduced and integrated advanced capabilities including precision machining, rapid and functional prototyping, short-run plastics production, and technical advisory services. Each addition was selected to strengthen our ability to move seamlessly from concept through fabrication, while maintaining quality, speed, and design integrity. These technologies did not exist in isolation; they were built into a connected workflow that increased efficiency and reduced friction for our clients.

This era was defined by momentum. We collaborated with a steady stream of customers bringing ambitious, unconventional, and often complex ideas to the table—ideas that demanded flexibility, problem-solving, and a willingness to push beyond standard solutions. Our role increasingly shifted from vendor to trusted technical partner, helping shape ideas as much as we helped build them.

As the decade progressed, we expanded into additive art, advanced machined design, and hybrid fabrication approaches. This convergence of artistic expression and industrial precision significantly increased our productivity while opening new markets and applications. By the close of the 2010s, these capabilities positioned us to scale more effectively, differentiate within the industry, and grow our market share across both creative and technical sectors.

Early 2020's

The 2020s marked a defining chapter for 3DAF Inc.—a period shaped by rapid market expansion, accelerating technology adoption, and a fundamental shift in scale. What began the decade as a small sole proprietorship evolved into a federally incorporated company serving clients in more than 30 countries across five continents. This transition reflected both growing global demand and our readiness to operate at an international level.

With decades of accumulated industry experience, our role expanded beyond fabrication and production. We increasingly stepped into an advisory capacity, providing technical consultation, delivering guest lectures at universities, and collaborating with a range of government organizations and innovation programs. These engagements positioned 3DAF not only as a manufacturer, but as a strategic contributor to the broader advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

During this period, several key milestones reinforced that transformation:

  • Joined NGen as part of the Southwestern Ontario Manufacturing Supercluster

  • Secured an MDEL Class I Medical Device Distribution and Manufacturing License

  • Developed five proprietary intellectual properties and secured three patents

  • Designed and executed manufacturing plans capable of scaling from prototype to thousands of units within weeks or months for large manufacturers

  • Transitioned the business structure from a sole proprietorship to a federally incorporated entity

  • Joined the Windsor–Essex Chamber of Commerce

  • Participated in the Automobility Program supporting autonomous vehicle development

Together, these achievements reflect a company that has matured operationally, expanded globally, and positioned itself at the intersection of innovation, manufacturing, and applied expertise—well prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the decade ahead.

Artistically Fabulous

In 2023, we began laying the groundwork for our next major chapter with a strategic relocation to Alberta, Canada. This move was more than geographic—it represented a renewed focus and a clear creative directive: to be Artistically Fabulous in everything we do. Design excellence, expressive fabrication, and elevated execution became central to how we approach every project, regardless of scale or sector.

Relocating positioned us closer to key partners and customers, enabling tighter collaboration, faster iteration, and more efficient project delivery. The result has been stronger relationships, clearer communication, and solutions shaped through hands-on engagement rather than distance.

Building on that momentum, 2024 marked the launch of our own educational media brand, Fossilized Facts. Created to share knowledge, spark curiosity, and make complex subjects accessible, the brand focuses on education and information delivered through a strong multi-platform presence. Fossilized Facts reflects our belief that learning should be engaging, visually compelling, and grounded in credible research—bridging storytelling, science, and design.

Together, these initiatives signal a company continuing to evolve—not only expanding where we operate, but redefining how we create, communicate, and contribute.
